The role of the School/Curriculum Improvement Service is to support districts in their continuing efforts to improve student achievement by helping them respond to change, engage greater numbers of stakeholders, forge partnerships, and implement new models, best practices and programs.

The School/Curriculum Improvement Service provides support in the planning and implementation of New York State directives and initiatives related to school improvement, such as:

  • Shared Decision Making
  • Professional Development Plan
  • Annual Professional Performance Review
  • Comprehensive District Education Plan
  • System for accountability for student success
  • Academic Intervention Service
  • Various additional educational reform endeavors aimed at student achievement
  • Stipends/student aid
  • Participation in county-wide monthly principal meetings
  • SAVE
  • Mentoring
  • Regional scoring
  • In addition, the School/Curriculum Improvement Service also offers the opportunity to participate in professional development opportunities on a per cost basis in various areas such as:

  • The New York State Learning Standards
  • Instructional strategies
  • Curriculum development
  • Assessment analysis and development
  • Collaborative communities
  • Organizational, individual and instructional change
  • Leadership
  • New teacher support/mentoring
  • Conflict resolution
  • Mentoring
