NYSED deputy commissioner attends Education Leadership Mohawk Valley event at BOCES

Jhone Ebert, the senior deputy commissioner for education policy at the New York State Education Department, attended an Education Leadership Mohawk Valley meeting hosted on Monday, Feb. 4, at Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES.

Herkimer BOCES Culinary Hospitality instructor Dominick Mauro and his students prepared the event’s food, which received rave reviews from those in attendance.

Various Herkimer BOCES programs created displays for guests to view while enjoying the food prior to the meeting.

Herkimer BOCES District Superintendent Sandra Sherwood and Madison-Oneida BOCES District Superintendent Jacklin Stark started off the meeting with introductions and educational news bites.

Ebert then gave a “Pathway to Leadership” presentation, took questions and discussed educational issues.

Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES Assistant Superintendent Christopher Hill led a discussion of work for Education Leadership Mohawk Valley’s next meeting: the GOAL Conference on March 20 at Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES.
