In direct response to a survey of first-year school board members, the Oneida-Madison-Herkimer Counties School Boards Institute will conduct a “How to Become a School Board Candidate and What to Expect if Elected Workshop” on Tuesday, March 19, on Zoom.

The first-year board members indicated in the survey that the information provided in the workshop would be helpful to individuals who are considering becoming candidates for their local school boards.

This informational workshop is free of charge and open to all residents in the regions of Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES, Madison-Oneida BOCES and Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES.

On March 19, signing into to Zoom will take place between 5:30 and 6 p.m., and the workshop will begin at 6 p.m.

6:05 p.m.: How to Become a Candidate for Your Local Board of Education - Process and Timeline

Pick up Petition from your Local Board of Education Clerk

April 22, 2024 - Return petition to Board Clerk with at least 25 signatures (Always have a few more signatures than the minimum)

May 1, 2024 For Small City Schools return Petition to Board Clerk with at least 100 signatures

May 21, 2024 Budget and Board Election Vote

Meet mandated BOE Training requirements – six hours of New School Board of Education Training  and six hours of Fiscal Oversight Training
