DASA Six-Hour Certification Course: There will be two portions of the six-hour class. The first three hours will be offered online (Google Classroom, self-paced), and the last three hours will be provided in-person.

The course's three-hour, in-person portion will be held from 3-6 p.m. on May 30, 2024, at the Herkimer BOCES Gateway Center in the Progress Room on the second floor of 420 E. German St. in Herkimer.

To attend the in-person portion, you must have successfully completed the online Google Classroom portion of the course.

You need only to attend one in-person portion following the successful completion of the online portion of the course.

Registration: To register, please click HERE and search "DASA" for all available trainings. You must register through MyLearningPlan to reserve your space in the selected course.

Cost: Free for employees of Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES and component districts subscribing to the Safety Service.

To be fully prepared to complete this course, PRIOR to attending the in-person portion, please log on to: https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html. Choose: “I wish to proceed," choose a BIAS test - complete and bring the results with you to discuss during this course.

Upon completion of both portions of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. BOCES will upload the required completion information to the TEACH system, as per the NYSED requirements. In order for it to upload correctly you do need to have a TEACH account.


QUESTIONS Regarding DASA and Certification Requirements:
If you have questions about whether or not you need to take the DASA Training for your certification, you can contact the Regional Certification at ONC BOCES or the NYSED Office of Teaching. The Regional Certification Office serves as an extension of the Teacher Certification Division of the New York State Education Department. The office provides evaluative and consultant services to component school districts and HFHO BOCES on New York State teacher and coaching certification requirements.
