The Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego Board of Cooperative Educational Services is accepting applications for the position of District Superintendent of Schools & Chief Executive Officer.  The search process will be conducted over the next several months. 

The Board will be assisted in the selection process by Mr. Scott A. Budelmann, District Superintendent & Chief Executive Officer of the Madison-Oneida BOCES.  All application materials should be sent to Mr. Budelmann for initial review.  Applicants should not contact individual board members. 

The Board will make all decisions concerning the selection process, the evaluation of candidates, and the final candidate selection. Note that the Commissioner of Education must interview final candidates for approval prior to appointment by the Board.

The Board hopes to appoint a new District Superintendent of Schools & Chief Executive Officer no later than October 1, 2023, pending approval of the Commissioner of Education.


  • March 3, 2023: Zoom Meetings with Faculty/Staff to Discuss Process   

  • April 17, 2023: Deadline for Receipt of Applications                                    

  •  Mid to Late April 2023: Input Meetings with Stakeholder Groups Regarding Strengths, Opportunities & Characteristics

  • End of May 2023: Initial Interviews by the Board of Education                             

  • Early June 2023: Advisory Interviews by Stakeholder Groups and Final Interviews by the Board of Education

  • End of June 2023: Candidate Appointed by the Board of Education                       

  • By October 1, 2023: Candidate Assumes Duties
