BUSINESS OFFICE FUNCTIONS

Records Management
For more than 20 years, the Herkimer BOCES and its component districts have had a records management program in order to prevent the duplication of services and provide for optimal cost effectiveness, consistency and quality in the Herkimer BOCES region.

Services currently offered to the districts include the organization of storage areas to facilitate efficient disposition and retrieval; annual inventory updates and disposition of obsolete records; micrographics and the retrieval of filmed information; development of automated indexing systems; policy and procedure development; consultation; and staff training.

This division continues to seek innovative records and information management techniques and maintains a strong commitment to the success and future continuation of the existing records management programs.

Business Manager
A shared business manager works in two or more districts as the primary or secondary person in charge of district financial services.

Cooperative Purchasing
The school districts cooperatively bid items – such as custodial supplies, fuel oil, gasoline, bread, milk, ice cream and duplicator paper. Substantial savings in cost are realized through bulk purchasing.

Workers’ Compensation
Districts may participate in a self-insurance plan for workers’ compensation. Administrative costs for this plan are BOCES aidable.

Health Insurance Administration
Health insurance consortium participants are provided a competitive cooperative rate for health insurance. Administrative costs for this plan are BOCES aidable.
