Six seniors from a variety of Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES Career and Technical Education programs are starting pre-apprenticeships at local businesses.
This new pre-apprenticeship program is a collaboration between the Herkimer BOCES career tech center’s work-based learning department, local businesses and the HMO Workforce Development Board.
Students are dedicating a minimum of 60 hours of quality on-the-job training in combination with related classroom instruction. This after-school program is an initiative to build a local talent pipeline aligning student skill development with area businesses while strengthening the student’s own educational pathway.
Students participating will receive a monetary compensation and a new laptop computer in recognition of their commitment.
