Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES Career and Technical Education students placed in 15 events – including four first-place finishes – at the SkillsUSA New York Area II Regional Conference on Friday, Feb. 6, at SUNY Morrisville.

A total of 71 Herkimer BOCES CTE students attended the conference and all earned their Statesman Awards. The students attended with Herkimer BOCES SkillsUSA advisors Holly Fisher, Sarah Jaquays and Melinda Maycock – as well as CTE teachers William Carpenter, Jesse Marosek and Robert Richards.

“We’re so proud of the students for the hard work they put in preparing for these competitions and the success they achieved at the conference,” Fisher said. “Competing pushes students outside of their comfort zone, boosts their confidence and helps them realize what they’re capable of. Attending the conference also helps them make connections in the industries they’re interested in and gives them an edge when applying for jobs.”
