The Richfield Springs Board of Education is looking for community input on the superintendent search with the survey.
Richfield Springs recently launched a search for a new superintendent of schools with applications accepted through Tuesday, Feb. 17. Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES District Superintendent D.J. Shepardson is leading the superintendent search on behalf of the Richfield Springs Board of Education.
Shepardson will host a community information session at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Richfield Springs school cafeteria at 93 W. Main St. in Richfield Springs. The event will include discussion of the search process, timeline and community survey.
Screening and selection of candidates will take place in February and March. Board of Education interviews with candidates will take place in March and April, before the board decides on a hiring. The next superintendent is expected to begin employment on July 1.
The superintendent search process began following a recent announcement by current Richfield Springs Central School District Superintendent Thomas Piatti that he will be retiring at the end of the 2025-26 school year.
