Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES presented awards to staff members for longevity of service during a welcome-back event on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Herkimer College.

The following employees were recognized for their years of service:

10 years: teacher aide Paula Anna, teaching assistant Joanna Bevers, teacher William Carpenter, teaching assistant Krista Darling, teaching assistant Nicole Dutcher, teaching assistant Tammie Forbes, physical therapist Lindsay Humiston, behavior specialist assistant Kellie Maxwell, teacher Heather Miller, mental health counselor Michele Paladino, occupational therapist Donna Roback, teacher Michael Taratuchin, school counselor Donald Wisniewski and teacher Amanda Witt.

20 years: teacher Jean Davis.

40 years: migrant teaching assistant Sharon Risley.

The annual Herkimer BOCES welcome-back event took place as part of a Superintendent’s Conference Day – with 10-month employees returning to work, just before students start classes on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Herkimer BOCES Board of Education President Holly Pullis gave opening remarks, Herkimer BOCES Supervisor of Safety Services Adam Hutchinson provided mandatory annual trainings and Herkimer BOCES District Superintendent D.J. Shepardson presented a BOCES update and welcomed staff for the school year. New staff, upcoming retirees and the administrative team were recognized. Mentalist Robert Channing gave the keynote speech with a presentation full of mind reading and motivational messages.

After the morning session at Herkimer College, the event moved to the Herkimer BOCES William E. Busacker Complex for lunch, professional development and association meetings.
