The 23rd annual Herkimer Region College & Career Scholarship Foundation Golf Tournament raised more than $12,000 to provide scholarships to local students.
Twenty-five teams participated in the tournament on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, at the Cedar Lake Club in Clayville. Funds raised from the tournament go to students pursuing college or employment in their field of study following a vocational education in high school. The exact total raised was $12,384.77.
Next year’s tournament is tentatively scheduled for Monday, Aug. 9, 2027. The Herkimer Region College & Career Scholarship Foundation is a not-for-profit community scholarship foundation. A group of local citizens from many professions works voluntarily to generate scholarship funds for graduates of technical programs in the region and adult nursing students. To date, the foundation has provided about 409 scholarships – totaling about $254,000.
The foundation supports students at Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES and its 10 component school districts: Central Valley, Dolgeville, Frankfort-Schuyler, Herkimer, Little Falls, Mount Markham, Owen D. Young, Poland, Richfield Springs and West Canada Valley. There are also scholarships for students in the Herkimer BOCES Adult Practical Nursing Program.
Team M&T Bank (Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District) won the 2026 golf tournament overall and won the Challenger’s Cup for lowest score among school teams. The members of that team are Julie Appley, Andy Zaffarano, Bob Davenport and Joseph Palmer.
Team NYSIR won first place for mixed teams, Team Griffith CDJR won second place for mixed teams, Team Brown Designs won second place for men’s teams and Team Insure One won third place for men’s teams.
Lindsey Abraham from Team Griffith CDJR won the women’s longest drive competition, Will Picolla from Team Stark Tech/Day Automation No. 1 won the men’s longest drive competition, Denise Brown from Team the Club Sisters won the women’s closest to the pin competition and Brayden Shepardson from Team Stark Tech/Day Automation No. 3 won the men’s closest to the pin competition. In the “skins” competition, Team M&T Bank won $440 for an eagle on hole No. 3.
