Q. About when did you start working in your current position at Herkimer BOCES?
A. Sept. 2, 2026.

Q. What led you to your current position at Herkimer BOCES?
A. My path to Herkimer BOCES was shaped by a variety of experiences in education. I began my career as a middle school English teacher and later served as an elementary and junior/senior high school assistant principal, athletic director and elementary principal. These roles gave me a broad perspective on education and strengthened my passion for supporting students, staff and school communities. Herkimer BOCES felt like a natural next step where I could bring those experiences together and continue making a positive impact.
-
Q. What do you find rewarding about working in your current position?
A. What I find most rewarding about my current position is the opportunity to work with such dedicated staff while making a meaningful impact on our school community. I especially appreciate how supportive and collaborative the staff at Herkimer BOCES have been in supporting my transition to this position. Their commitment, professionalism and willingness to work together make it a rewarding environment and allow us to provide the best possible opportunities for our students.

Q. When did you first know you wanted to work in this field and what made you feel that way?
A. I first knew I wanted to work in education when I was a student myself. I struggled in some classes and remember having teachers who made a meaningful difference for me, while there were others who did not always provide the support I needed. Those experiences stayed with me and motivated me to become the kind of educator who would make sure students feel supported, understood and encouraged to succeed. I wanted to help students in ways that I had wished some of my own teachers had helped me.

Q. What do you think makes Herkimer BOCES special?
A. What makes Herkimer BOCES special is the people and the strong sense of community. The staff are dedicated, supportive and genuinely committed to helping students succeed. I also appreciate the collaborative environment and the variety of opportunities we are able to provide students. Everyone works together with a shared goal of helping each student reach their potential.
-
Q. What value do you believe Herkimer BOCES provides for students and/or the community?
A. I believe Herkimer BOCES provides tremendous value by giving traditional and non-traditional students opportunities to discover their strengths, develop career-ready skills and build confidence in their abilities. It provides pathways that may not be available in a traditional school setting and helps students prepare for success beyond high school. For the community, BOCES helps develop a skilled workforce while bringing schools, families and local businesses together to support the future of our students.
