The Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES Pathways Academy at Remington will be moving to virtual instruction from Friday, Nov. 6, through Tuesday, Nov. 17, after being notified today, Thursday, Nov. 5, of a Pathways Academy staff member having a confirmed positive COVID-19 case.

Herkimer BOCES was also notified on the night of Wednesday, Nov. 4, of a confirmed COVID-19 case for a staff member at the William E. Busacker Complex in Herkimer. Because the staff member works in an office, no BOCES programs were affected, and all programs there are continuing as usual.

Both staff members notified Herkimer BOCES directly about their results, and Herkimer BOCES has been working with the Herkimer County Public Health Department on the contact tracing process. Neither staff member has been into work since Tuesday, Nov. 3. Health officials will determine who among staff and students needs to be quarantined or take any follow up steps and will directly contact them.

Extra cleaning and sanitizing was conducted in the office at the WEB Complex in Herkimer the night of Wednesday, Nov. 4, and extra cleaning and sanitizing will be conducted at the Pathways Academy in Ilion the tonight, Thursday, Nov. 5.

After virtual instruction from Friday, Nov. 6, through Tuesday, Nov. 17, Pathways Academy will return to in person instruction on Wednesday, Nov. 18. All Herkimer BOCES programs other than the Pathways Academy will continue on their regular schedules because their programs were not affected.
