Adult LPN Program Student Spotlight:

Name: Cassondra French

Class: Part-time evening (graduating June 2023)

Where do you live: Holland Patent

Tell us about your family: Single mother with one daughter, Aubri.

Tell us about your past work experience: Phlebotomist at LabCorp for three years and medical assistant at Slocum Dickson Pain Management for three years and WellNow Urgent Care for one year.

Why do you want to be a nurse? To help people who are unable to help themselves. I love critical care and cannot wait to work on the ER floors and have the opportunity to save lives.

Why did you pick this program? It fits well with my already busy schedule.

What do you find most challenging? Most challenging would be balance. Most days, I feel like I do well balancing a full-time job, part-time job and school and ultimately being a mother. But other days, I miss my daughter or feel like I don’t study enough.

What do you find most rewarding? Relating what I have learned in class to real life in the practices I work in. This really helps me remember what I’ve learned and gives me understanding to apply it later in the field.

What do you want to do after nursing school? I plan to work on the ER floor as an LPN and continue school to obtain my RN. Then, my ultimate goal and dream job is to be a flight nurse.
