The countdown continues to apply for our next full-time and part-time Adult Practical Nursing classes, and we’re counting down by highlighting current students!

Highlighted below, mother Staci Hazzard and daughter Shania Chapman decided to join the Herkimer BOCES Adult LPN Program part-time evening class that began in January together! Both members of the mother-daughter duo plan to graduate, work as LPNs and then further their nursing education.

As of March 11, there are 82 days left to apply for the Adult LPN Program full-time class and 143 days left to apply for the part-time classes. But space is limited, and time is of the essence, so apply now!

Class: Part-time evening (starting January 2022, graduating June 2023)

Where do you live: St. Johnsville

Tell us about your family: I am married. I have five children and two grandchildren.

Tell us about your past work experience: CNA, HHA.

Why do you want to be a nurse? I enjoy helping people.

Why did you pick this program? I heard good things about the program, and the program works with my schedule and my family.

What do you find most challenging? Being able to keep my grades up.

What do you find most rewarding? That, in the end, I will be helping people.

What do you want to do after nursing school? I would like to work in a doctor’s office and then in a few years continue my education.

Name: Shania Chapman

Class: Part-time evening (starting January 2022, graduating June 2023)

Where do you live: St. Johnsville

Tell us about your family: I have a huge family. There are seven kids total. I am currently engaged to be married in 2023.

Tell us about your past work experience: I worked at an assisted living and Palatine Nursing Home, and I am currently at Arc Herkimer.

Why do you want to be a nurse? It’s my passion. I love taking care of people, and if I can make an impact in everyone’s lives, then I am happy.

Why did you pick this program? I chose this program because I have always wanted to be a nurse.

What do you find most challenging? Trying to juggle all the work, studying and maintaining a full-time job.

What do you find most rewarding? In the end, I will have achieved my goal of becoming a nurse.

What do you want to do after nursing school? I want to work as an LPN and then, later on, continue my nursing degree and get my RN.
