Adult LPN Program Student Spotlight:

Name: Chelsea Hinkle

Class: Part-time evening (graduating June 2023)

Where do you live: Palatine Bridge

Tell us about your family: I am currently engaged and a mother to three wonderful boys, and soon to be a stepmother to two wonderful boys and one sweetheart girl.

Tell us about your past work experience: I have been a CNA for six years and currently work at Stewart’s, to focus on my schooling.

Why do you want to be a nurse? I’ve always loved helping people. Most people don’t have local families to visit them. So, in place, I am their family.

Why did you pick this program? It works with my children and work schedule. Also, I know several people who attended this program, and they had nothing but good things to say.

What do you find most challenging? Trying to divide school and home life. Most people don’t realize how much time you need out of your personal life to study. Also trying not to cry with major exams.

What do you find most rewarding? The fact that everyone in class gets along and that we are there for one another. It also allows me to get a better understanding to what I already know.

What do you want to do after nursing school? I plan on continuing my education to hopefully obtain my NP or CRNA. I would love to start working in something that deals with trauma, while furthering my education.
