Adult LPN Program Student Spotlight:

Name: Lindsey Johnson

Class: Part-time evening

Where do you live: Ilion

Tell us about your family: I’m a mom to two cats, Poptart and Dragon, and to my lab, Finn, who lives with my parents.

Tell us about your past work experience: I started working at Valley Health Services when I was 16. When I was 17, I became a CNA. I have now worked at Valley Health for four years.

Why do you want to be a nurse? Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to help people. Why? After I became a CNA, I started thinking about more ways I can help take care of my residents. Then I decided to further my education and become an LPN.

Why did you pick this program? It allowed me to go to school at night, so I can still work my daytime job.

What do you find most challenging? Trying to balance school, work and home life.

What do you find most rewarding? Going to work every day and seeing my residents and just knowing soon I will be able to do more for them.

What do you want to do after nursing school? I plan to stay at Valley Health for a few months after graduation to get experience. I then plan to hopefully find a job in women’s health. In fall of 2024, I plan to get my bachelor’s degree to be an RN. After that, I hope to get my dream job and become a labor and delivery nurse.
