VP-TECH students participated in a seminar today regarding healthy relationships and domestic violence.
Megan Dack Dischiavi, domestic violence assistant director from Catholic Charities of Herkimer County, engaged the students in discussions around subjects such as characteristics of healthy relationships and how to support friends and maintain boundaries.
READiTEC lesson on budgeting! A lot of surprises, financial challenges to deal with and fun! It was eye-opening for the students.

Herkimer BOCES Welding and Metal Fabrication students are creating and selling metal washer flowers as a fundraiser for the Welding class’s senior sweatshirts!
The metal flowers are available to order throughout the month of February. Regular metal flowers are $15, and painted flowers (red or black) are $18.

READiTEC used their Regents week last week to catch up on their different unit projects.
We had a couple of new students, Sarah and Madyson, working on building a bird house.
Colin and Andrew were picking out the pattern for their Visual Communications Media Arts project.
Daniel and Olivia worked on finishing a Visual Communications project by helping out on a friend’s t-shirt.

The student learners in the Child and Family Services program keep the students busy while the children take turns petting the piglet.
Child and Family Services had a visit from Ms. Shubert’s farm today! One of her piglets visited. The children loved petting this sweet and gentle animal.
The next session of Parent Academy (open to parents of students from all schools in the Herkimer BOCES region) is Jan. 12 and focuses on "Successful Goal Setting."
